I Am a Centrist and You Probably Are Too!

(Opinion)

Once again, I find myself getting harassed by both parties, and it seems necessary to unpack this situation in a bit more detail. The reason people often find themselves confused, and at times even angry, regarding my stance on various issues is rooted in my political identity. I want to clarify that I am not a Republican; I am not a Democrat. In fact, I belong to no political party at all. I am a Centrist, a position I have held for a considerable amount of time now.

Throughout my life, I have strived to maintain a balanced viewpoint, considering the pros and cons of policies from both sides of the political spectrum. In essence, I have always supported what I believe is best for the country and its citizens as a whole, without concern for who proposed it. However, in recent years, I have noticed a significant shift within the Democratic Party. It appears that the Progressives/Marxists have moved them so far to the left that I find myself inadvertently shoved toward the right, regardless of my personal inclinations or beliefs. This shift has been unsettling, as it has compelled me to reassess my stance in a political landscape that feels increasingly polarized. The left wing perceives Centrists as serving the right wing, and the right thinks we serve the left, when in reality, we are the body and brain of the bird that understands both wings must work together in order to fly.

The complexity of my political stance often leads to misunderstandings because I and others like me don't fit neatly into society's predefined categories. As a Centrist, I aim to support policies that are practical and grounded in reality, rather than being driven by extreme ideologies based in emotion. This approach leads to backlash from both sides. Those firmly aligned with the Democratic Party see my criticisms of their policies as betrayals, while Republicans view my centrist views as not sufficiently aligned with their conservative principles. In short, I don't adhere to any party line; I think for myself, and that will never change. Political parties are based on collectivism, a concept I dislike, except in specific circumstances like the military, where uniformity is essential.

This duality of criticism can be quite frustrating, as it underscores a larger problem in modern politics: the growing challenge of having nuanced conversations about significant issues. The binary nature of party politics often leaves little room for those of us who seek a middle ground and wish to engage in thoughtful dialogue rather than simply choosing a side. In an environment where political loyalty appears crucial, my reluctance to fully align with either party can be seen as a threat to those deeply rooted in their beliefs. I suggest watching the following video for better insight, as I agree with its content. You only need to watch the first 9 minutes or so.

As I navigate this challenging environment, I stay true to my centrist principles and advocate for a more inclusive dialogue that goes beyond partisan divisions. I hope that by expressing my position more clearly, I can enhance understanding among those who may feel frustrated or confused by my views. It's important to acknowledge that political affiliation doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing approach; instead, it can be a spectrum where diverse ideas and perspectives coexist, enriching and informing the discourse. The issue arises when the Progressives took control of the Democratic party and sought compromise and middle ground on issues where none exists, such as pedophilia and the harm to children in the name of transgenderism. What compromise is possible on these matters? Allowing harm to children on specific days with certain limits? Being firmly against this doesn't make me a right-wing extremist; it makes me a human being. My God, what are we even discussing here?

As centrism is criticized by both the left and the right, the internet becomes a mire of criticism, often leading to wasted time. Here's my perspective on being a Centrist. To be straightforward, here are some examples of my views:

  • My issue isn't with black people in general, but with the extremists and radicals within the group.

  • My issue isn't with LGBTQ+ individuals in general, but with the extremists and radicals within the group.

  • My issue isn't with white people in general, but with the extremists and radicals within the group.

  • My issue isn't with Democrats or Republicans in general, but with the extremists and radicals within the groups, also known as Progressives/Marxists.

  • My issue isn't with religious people in general, but with the extremists and radicals within the group.

This perspective applies to any demographic you might mention because, as a Centrist, my issue is with extremists and radicals, regardless of the banner they use. Historically, radicals and extremists have been the source of all chaos in our global society. The U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to peacefully assemble and express grievances for political change. However, when violence, intimidation, and mass destruction occur, it escalates to violent extremism and, by definition, terrorism.

The following video is talking about the moderate right verses the current Democratic Party's progressive agenda. Think about it, are there any moderate Democrats left? Anyway, it makes a good point.

I am old enough to recall a time when Democrats and Republicans collaborated for the nation's and its people's welfare. I also remember when this shifted, observing how collectivism grew within both parties, giving rise to radicals and extremists. Collectivism opposes individual freedom, which is why I strongly dislike it. Communism, socialism, fascism or progressivism (cultural or Neo Marxism), no matter what you call it, it is all based on collectivism. Have I mentioned that I do not like collectivism?

Now, this is just scratching the surface but if you think as I do, meaning you see the world how it actually is instead of how you may think or wish it should be, and act accordingly, congratulations, you might be a Centrist. I am looking forward to getting back where I belong.

Something to think about, until next time. ~Ghost
